Lenny Kravitz
Lenny Kravitz gives more than your money’s worth in concert. I remember going to one of his shows some years ago. There were not many black people at that show. When I scanned the crowd and saw a few other black folks in attendance, I did a sigh of relief. Glad I wasn’t the only black person in the crowd appreciating his music. Out of seemingly nowhere, an older black woman approaches me in the crowd and introduces herself.
She proceeded to tell me how she goes to a lot of his shows and that she was in her late 60s. Her clothing was a bit skimpy and she wore sun glasses. It was obvious she was trying to figure me out. Do I know him so that she can get even closer to him? I felt that vibe.
She asked too many probing questions and she became annoying to me. She told me, “ When he comes out on the stage, he’s going to see me and recognize me. I just saw him in another state and he was so close to me, blah blah blah.”
I said, “okay.” Then, another woman who was very attractive gets close to me and asks me directly, “Do you know Lenny?” I was surrounded by groupies. I just wanted to see the show without being interviewed by groupies in the audience. I attend shows, but I ain’t no groupie! Well, I guess that’s just how it goes sometimes at shows. Here is a video of one of my favorite songs, “It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over.”
