Steppin’ in DC After The 5K

On March 4, 2023, I attended Mayor Muriel Bowser’s 5th Annual HERSTORY 5K.
It was an incredible time for me to walk the 5K. The weather was perfect. The skies were clear and beautifully blue. It was not too cold. Some ran and others walked the 5K. I walked at my own pace until I got to the finish line. I enjoyed being around different people of all races, genders and ages. I saw majority adults there. After the 5K, there was a DJ playing some good music at Freedom Plaza. People were feeling good after the 5K. It was empowering seeing the diversity at the 5K and also the diversity of those steppin’ to the music. There was some go-go music and some Bel Biv Devoe. I most enjoyed people steppin’ to the song Jerusalema ( feat. Nomcebo Zikode) by Master KG. It’s a fitting song for the diverse group to dance to. I feel my video represents the heart of what not only Washington, D.C. is, but also the heart of the United States of America. When we are truly united in peace and harmony, we are really an America the beautiful.
